Show & Tell

I feel like a show and tell day. Today while I was in the shower Marian decided that she was going to get one of the cat figures I have in my curio. She loves it but she knows not to get into it. Well today was the day she decided to try. So as I come out of the bathroom she comes running up to me holding this cat figure. She was all excited until she saw my face, then she turned and ran. So while she was in her bed for time out I went and examined the damage caused by hurricane "Marian". It looked like she had opened it up and had a really good time playing with almost everything in there. So I had to rearrange everything. As I was doing so I thought it would be fun to share some pictures of what I have and why. To start with my mom gave me the curio on my 21st birthday (the day I moved out of the house and into my own apartment) and I have slowly added to it's contents as the years have gone by. Some of you (if you can see the stuff in there very well) will notice some of the things you have given me over the years. Most things that I have been given have ended up in my permanent collection here :o) A few stories about some of them. I will start with the cat figurines. I have two diffrent ones in there, both are siamese cats. The porcilan one was given to me by Rebecca as a birthday gift when we were about 12 years old. It has always reminded me of the importance of having "girl" friends :o) The other siamese cat has real fur and I got it from one of the booths during Springville days to remind me of our siamese cat "Smeagol", who always thought there was a real cat in the curio whenever he walked by and saw his reflection in the glass. He would sit there and yeowl at us to let it out until we shooed him away. The collection of horses and Carousel horses came from a vast number of different people, to whom I dearly thank all of you I really do love them! The rock that the sleeping foal is on came from the SLC Temple. It is part of the original granite that was used to build the temple. I got it when they were redoing/cleaning the outside of the temple back when I was in Y.W. The little seal sitting in a clam shell on he top shelf is from my trip up to Washington to see my friend Jamie! It is made from the ash of Mount St.Helen. The bottom left hand corner is dedicated to all the things from the day of my wedding. There is my cake topper and the bears that sat at one of the tables, and my tiarra, etc. The glass bears under the red umbrella are a music box that sings "That's what friends are for" from my sister Brittany when I got married! Also for those who remember Mulboons that glass is from my first Prom date. :o) Oh and on the top are two dolls. One is a witch that I just fell in love with when I saw it a few years ago in the mall around this time of year, the other is a little girl doll riding a rocking horse that Allison gave me I think for Christmas or my birthday one year that I have always just loved! I have been wanting to get a picture of Marian on a wooden rocking horse and put that picture next to the doll. :o) Thanks Ally! I hope that I haven't board anyone to tears yet. :o) Thank you to everyone who has added to my colletion :o)
