The drive to Oregon and more

So here we are the day after Christmas in a Penske Moving truck driving through Idaho.  Most of the trip was pretty uneventful, there was a small hiccup though when he got to Burly.  The road from there to Twin Falls had been shut down due to large amounts of slide offs on the road (that had happened before 11am that morning). So they detour us onto a 20 mile stretch of road that has not been plowed and has about 3 inches of snow packed onto it. We kept looking over at the nice looking freeway we were driving next to, with not a car on it and no snow.  We could not figure out why we were driving on this horrible road when the freeway looked sooooo much better, and not a wreck to be seen!  Well we later found out....
Something like 9 Semis and 7 cars had slid off the road into the median and had created a large mess, fortunately we found out that no one was hurt.
Here is a shot of the moon that came up around 3pm that day
Snow, we must still be in Idaho....
 Oregon! No snow!
We stopped the night in Pendleton at my brother's in laws home (we were so grateful!) after coming down that canyon in the dark (also very nerve wracking!) We found out a couple days after we came down that canyon that a tour bus went over the guard rail there and killed 10 people.  We feel very lucky to have made it through there just fine.
My parents were super nice and offered to fly the kids in on Saturday so we wouldn't have to worry about them, and give us a day to get things slightly settled. So on Saturday when they flew in we all drove out to the coast! When you go to Tillamook, you have to stop in and see the cheese factory!
Then my mom wanted to find the little light house they have out there, so off we went.
We didn't find it as easily as Jeff and I had the first time....but we did find an amazing beach!  Dani has talked non stop about finding shells on the beach when we got to Oregon, so she got her wish!

Here we is the spot Jeff and I found on our first day out here in August. However when we saw it all we could see is a thick fog bank that made it so we could't see past the trees! We never knew these cool rocks were out there!

And here is the little lighthouse I was telling my mom about!
We were talking to another couple who were there and they told us that this is a great spot to watch for whales! They also said that those rocks out there have lots of sea lions on them, and when the weather is good you can hear them calling to each other!

Hiking back up to the car!
 It is called Cape Meares!
Then it was back to the Cheese factory for some tasty ice cream!
