School Days and Labor Day excitement

Reed's desk is the empty chair right there!

Marian calls the alpacas camels :o)

the kids "fishing". They had a bite, but the fish was just too small :o)

Reed had his first day of Kindergarten!!! He has been so excited to go! The bus was one of the big draws for going back to school. He gets to ride one of those cool buses! Uncle Gabe gets to ride to school with him and then it's just him with a bunch of other kindergartners on the way home. Here he is with his "all about me poster" in his class, love the cheesey smile!

We also got some tickets to go see the "Sheepdog Trials" up at Soldier Hollow. That was really neat and pretty kid friendly as well (although we want to try ad go kidless next year). There was a neat petting zoo (you don't see much of those anymore) and the kids got quite the kick out of the sheep, goat, ponies and alpacas that the could pet. Marian also loved the pony rides, of course. I was interested in just watching the dogs of course, and I think Jeff would go back just for the food. We are looking forward to next year so we can go again!

This Labor Day weekend we took the kids "camping", and "fishing". Reed has been asking to go camping for the past little while, and has been asking to go fishing for even longer. So we packed the car and headed out to the wild out of doors. Where you ask? Where else but to Grandma and Grandpa Shepherd house! We put the tents out in the backyard and then in the morning we put a grasshopper on Reed's fishing pole and let him try to catch some fish in the stream that runs through the property. The kids had a blast and were amazed at all the stars in the sky at night. The best part is we had a house to cook breakfast in the next morning and when the kids woke us up at 7am because the sun was up and it was cold, we could take them into a nice a warm house. All in all it has been a busy, but fun week!

Cute, cute, cute! What grade is Reed in this year? Kaia's started asking about fishing lately too--I really have no idea what to do about that! I love your solution--what kind of poles did you use?
